Los Angeles has embraced me

Alas, I haven’t posted much… but I HAVE discovered the insanity of Twitter.  Perhaps I’ll get around to linking this page and my Tweets.  Perhaps.

Los Angeles is being good to me at last.  I guess that means to say that I’ve found the some of the twin souls out here, the ones whose hearts beat to the same drum as mine.  They were always here, but the Universe required that I let go of the relationships that were holding me back. It was a brutal Spring of 08, but I have emerged, all Phoenix-like, ready to fully hug LA back, for giving me a home, and friends, and a lifestyle that few other cities can rival.

Sure I will always miss Texas.  And someday I figure I’ll return to her, when the time is right.  But for now, LA needs me.

I’m here now. Very Here Now. :)

on the job memo

This is par for the course over here at my gig in LA:

Please be advised, during filming on Tuesday, December 9th, the tower elevators will not be accessible at the lobby 7:00–9:00AM. People parking in the structure can pick up an elevator on A-level to access the tower. After 9:00 AM, the tower elevators will service the lobby.

Also on Tuesday, there will be special effects on Boylston near the tower lobby entrance.  There will be popping noises and a smell of smoke. This is expected to take place from 9:00 AM–Noon.

Wake up America

Dear Friends,

“Wake up America, Sign up America!”

In his speech to the Democratic National Convention, Dennis Kucinich called on America to wake up to the corruption, lies, abuses and criminal failings of the Bush Administration over the past eight years.

Now, more than ever, we need your voice to shout that wake-up call - all across this nation and into the halls of Congress by signing the petition to begin impeachment proceedings against this Administration.

If we can deliver ONE MILLION signatures to the Speaker of the House on September 10th - the day before the world changed - we can change the world. We can send a powerful message that will shake Congress from its silence which enables President Bush to continue to violate the law. We the People must demand accountability.

If you have already signed, please send this message to everyone you know and ask them to circulate this message far and wide. Sign up at http://kucinich.us - TODAY!

The power to demand accountability is in your hands. The power to restore the Constitution is in your hands. The power to change our future for the better is in your hands. Please, now, exercise that power! Sign up at http://kucinich.us

Life is too short to wake up with regrets. So love the people who treat you right. Love the ones who don’t just because you can. Believe everything happens for a reason. If you get a second chance, grab it with both hands. If it changes your life, let it. Kiss slowly. Forgive quickly. No one ever said life would be easy. But it will be worth it.

Blessing for a New Home

By John O’Donohue

May this house shelter your life,

When you come in home here,

May all of the weight of the world

Fall from your shoulders.

May your heart be tranquil here,

Blessed by peace the world cannot give.

May this home be a lucky place,

Where the graces of your desires

Always find the pathway to your door.

May nothing destructive

Ever cross your threshold.

May this be a safe place

Full of understanding and acceptance,

Where you can be as you are,

Without the need of any mask

Or pretense or image.

May this home be a place of discovery,

Where the possibilities that sleep

In the clay of your soul can emerge

To deepen and refine your vision

For all that is yet to come to birth.

May it be a house of courage,

Where healing and growth are loved,

Where dignity and forgiveness prevail;

A home where patience of spirit is prized,

And the sight of the destination is never lost

Through the journey be difficult and slow.

May there be great delight around this hearth.

May it be a house of welcome

For the broken and diminished.

May you have the eyes to see

That no visitor arrives without a gift

And no guest leaves without a blessing.

I got this book about a week ago.

WOW. I’m fond of cracking open a book without starting at the beginning. I opened to this very page. I think it means something really special for what’s to come. I sure hope so.

I have to walk up 70 steps nightly to be home and I’m actually really happy about that, too… YEP. HOME. I have a home. Starting April 15.

I’m going to be poor as a church mouse for about a month, deposit and all, but I’m going to be living in a place that is HOME.

Things to be grateful for

My friends who are helping me to remember who I am and what I’m here for.
I was able to pick up my fave salad dressing at HEB last week in Austin.  Y’all just don’t KNOW how huge this is.
I got to see Chris H and hang out with him. It’s easy to smile when he’s around.

I got to spend 2 nights at Enchanted Forest and see old friends and update them on my plans to be with them again someday soon.

My hangover after SXSW Web Awards only lasted one day.

I finished reading Ender’s Game - great book.

I have a great job that challenges me daily and is making it possible for me to pay my bills.

I found an accountant who will work with me to get my taxes done and get me back on track.

I signed up for a month of Dahn Yoga and I think that this will help me immensely, mentally, emotionally and physically.

I’ve been loved and I am loved. People care about me and what happens to me.

I’m a strong person, I have many friends and while the going is tough right now, it won’t last forever and I’m going to be ok.

I must remember to surround myself with positive people, creative people.
